KITO ERIKKILA’s crane solution ensures efficiency and quality for ZF Danmark

ZF Danmark is a subsidiary of ZF, a global technology company originally founded by Ferdinand von Zeppelin in Friedrichshafen, Germany in the early 1900s.

About the project

Ferdinand von Zeppelin founded his own gear factory to manufacture the gears needed for the Zeppelin airships that bore his name, and the company has since grown into a global giant with around 134,000 employees and an annual turnover of over 230 billion DKK.

Gearboxes for every purpose

Even though ZF no longer manufactures gears for airships, the company still supplies the aviation industry. The product range has also expanded over the years to include car transmissions, trucks, tractors, military vehicles, trains, and products for the wind power and marine sectors and other industry. And following the acquisition of the American company TRW, which has approximately 66,000 employees, ZF can deliver almost everything, such as complete undercarriages for cars, seat belt tensioners, and airbags.

ZF Danmark is a Danish subsidiary of the global group ZF. ZF has two factories in Denmark, with a total of 29 employees. Both use crane solutions from Fyns Kran Udstyr. ZF gearboxes are renowned for their durability, and often outlast the motors or engines they’re connected to. ZF Danmark also refurbishes and services transmissions from their own factory as well as repairing those of other brands.

Fyns Kran Udstyr has collaborated with ZF Danmark to create an optimised working environment with six versatile working stations, as the workshop handles many different products, which vary significantly in weight and shape.

The main problem for the company was that the capacity of its earlier workstations was not being used effectively. The problem was solved by the integration of the existing cranes with two new column-mounted cranes from KITO ERIKKILA. Thanks to this, the heavy gearboxes can easily be placed at individual workstations and handled with the column-mounted crane at the workstation.

“We have achieved a much more efficient workflow while creating a better working environment for our employees. We are very satisfied with the solution, and have made an agreement with Fyns Kran Udstyr in Taastrup, Denmark for service and maintenance”, says ZF Danmark Service Manager Thomas Aagaard.
